‘No. 1238 Mesh’ (2023) is a site-specific installation commissioned by the �۶���Ƶ Art Collection. Bangladesh-born London-based artist Rana Begum created this work specifically for the ground floor of �۶���Ƶ’s London headquarters at 5 Broadgate. It is from the artist’s ‘Mesh Cloud’ series and made from powder-coated galvanized steel mesh. Set against Begum’s interest in precise minimalism, this series reveals her exploration into the uncontained.

Begum’s practice focuses on the interplay between light and color, blurring the boundaries between painting, sculpture and architecture. Her use of repetitive geometric patterns, found within Islamic art and the industrial cityscape, takes its inspiration from her childhood memories of rhythmic repetition in daily recitals of the Qur’an.
