Currency conversion
Currency conversion
Every ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ card uses a certain currency – for example, most ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ cards issued in Switzerland use Swiss francs. When you use your card to make a payment in a different currency, for example when you are shopping in another country, you will be asked to choose between your card’s currency or the local currency. Then the payment will be converted at the exchange rate offered at the time of payment. This exchange rate will include a surcharge.
Tip: Paying in local currency
When you pay with a debit card in some hotels and stores abroad, you have the choice of paying the amount in Swiss francs or in the local currency. As a rule, it makes sense for you to opt for foreign currency. The conversion rates offered abroad are often based on a poor exchange rate. In some cases, exchange fees may also apply.
